Sallah Day Attack: Kano Police Arrest Fleeing Gunman with Injuries



Kano State Police Command Monday confirmed the arrest of a fleeing suspect..
The command said that the suspect was arrested with gun shot injuries, and is believed to be one of those who attacked a Police Check point on Kano-Zaria road on Sallah Day.
State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Idris, disclosed that security agents in the state have spread their dragnet to track down the other fleeing members of the sect who were hit by bullets during the confrontation with the Police on Sallah day.
Idris told Reporters on Monday, "My men have arrested one of the suspects, with bullet injuries, while the search for others has been intensified".
The Police Commissioner who said that the incident was over blown by the media, stressed that to him, the Sallah ended on a peaceful note.
He pointed out  that security operatives repelled the attempt by the militants to attack a Police check point.
It would be recalled that gunmen on Sallah day attacked a police check point on Kano-Zaria road, during which a Mobile police man sustained minor injury. He was however given prompt medical attention following which he resumed at his duty post.

Spokesman of the Joint Task Force and 3 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Kano, Lt Ikedichi Iweha, said no military personnel was hurt during the  attack.
