Gunmen kill A Foreign Construction Worker in Taraba State

An expatriate staff of a popular road construction firm in Taraba, Mr Robin Grey, has been killed by unknown gunmen on the Takum-Wukari Road, the police said on Friday in Jalingo.

Grey, an Irish, worked with PW Construction Company, which was handling the Wukari-Takum Road in Taraba.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Amos Olaoye, said the incident occurred at about 5.30 p.m. on Thursday.

He said that a police patrol team from the Takum division found the victim and his driver lying in the pool of their own blood.

He said that Grey, who until his death was the company’s project manager, was traveling in an official Hilux van.

Olaoye said the police rushed the victims to a hospital in Takum, adding that Grey died in the hospital.

He, however, said the driver was responding to treatment in an undisclosed hospital in the area, adding that the police suspected the incident to be a case armed robbery.

He said that the command had deployed more men to the area for raids and further investigation.

Olaoye said details of the incident would be made available to the media as the investigations progressed.
