Police Arrests Killer of Soldier


Plateau State Police Command has disclosed that it has arrested 28 persons, including the killer of a solider attached to the Special Task Force (STF) on Jos Crisis.

The state Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr. Dipo Emmanuel Ayeni, who disclosed this at a press briefing in Jos Monday, recalled that the soldier was killed at his duty post at Filin Ball Area of Jos North Local government Area of the state in October 2011 by one Adullahi Abubakar, adding that “through information and discreet investigation, Detectives from CID arrested the suspect, and the case has been charged to court”.
The Commissioner has, however, refused to disclose how far he has gone with the ultimatum given him by the Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Mohammed Abubakar to come up with a credible road map for a sustainable peace on the Plateau, saying “that is an internal matter, and it is not meant for the press”.
Others arrested, according to the Police boss, include four members of an armed robbery syndicate who always terrorise people in Mangu area of the state. He said they were smashed through meticulous and dexterous use of intelligence by the state CID personnel in Jos, and items recovered from them include five empty shells of 5.5mm and two empty shells of 7.62 mm ammunition, one plate cover penetrated with bullets, and a sum of N4, 500.

Ayeni said a fortnight ago, following a tip off in Langtang North division of Langtang Area Command four armed robbery suspects were arrested with one locally made pistol with one live ammunition.
He said his men determined to raid the state of criminals carried out extensive raids in some hideouts and arrested some suspects and large quality of Indian hemp, dangerous weapons and some stolen items.
