Some unidentified gunmen in the early hours of Sunday in Maiduguri shot
dead, Alhaji Abdulkadir Kaasa, a former commissioner for environment in
Borno State.
Witnesses said Kaasa who served as commissioner
during the administration of Ali Modu Sheriff was shot dead at his home
in Bayan Quarters area of Maiduguri where the destroyed mosque of the
Boko Haram sect was once located.
They also told Greenwich newsmen
that he was killed around 1.30am by gunmen numbering about 10 shot him
repeatedly before they fled the scene.
A resident of the area
who pleaded anonymity said that the gunmen also ransacked the rooms of
his wives and carted away an undisclosed amount of money and jewelries
belonging to the women.
