Kidnapped Traditional Ruler Freed

THE kidnapped traditional ruler of Ukpo town, in Dunukofia Council of Anambra State, Igwe Robert Eze, has been released.

Eze was said to have been abducted by unknown gunmen on his way to church on Sunday July 29.

A family source said that the traditional ruler was rescued around Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Council from where he was brought home by security agents.
Even though none of the family members agreed to speak on the issue when reporters visited Ukpo yesterday, it was not clear whether any ransom was paid to secure his freedom.

The Police Public Relation Officer, Anambra State Police Command, Raph Uzoikwe, said police had no knowledge of any ransom paid adding that: “We are not aware that any money was paid to get the traditional ruler freed by his captors.”
