Workers jubilate over Nnaji’s resignation

It was a thanksgiving session at the premises of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) office, Alausa yesterday as workers turned out in their numbers to rejoice over the resignation of Minister of Power, Barth Nnaji.

As early as 8am, some workers of the company had assembled in front of the office singing Christian praise songs as they were later joined by others.
By 9.30 am the car park lounge of the company was full, with Comrade Mbang Ntukubes, Vice President, NUEE, Lagos and Ogun Zone, Comrade Chris Onomeh, National Auditor NUEE and Comrade Christopher Oluwaranti Abodunde, State Financial Secretary, Lagos State NUEE, the workers were seen offering thanksgiving and prayers.
The exercise was said to have followed a directive issued by the umbrella union of the PHCN staff, the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), that all staff of PHCN nationwide should observe a 30-minute thanksgiving before the commencement of work yesterday as a sign of victory.
During the prayer session, the staffers carried a mock coffin and photograph of Nnaji which they later destroyed after the 30 minutes session.
Comrade Ntukubes said that Nnaji’s resignation is a celebration of truth over falsehood and that “the resignation is not the end to our agitation. Nnaji should also be prosecuted for all the funds he has allegedly stolen from PHCN.”
