Police Recovers 21 Stolen Vehicles in Abuja


The police in Abuja said it has recovered 21 stolen cars and arrested seven people for allegedly stealing seven cars using a specialised ‘master key.’
Commissioner of Police Ade Shinaba said at a press briefing in Abuja that Paul Egwu, Samuel Chucku, Nnamdi Umeh, Ifeanyi Udoh and Aliyu Ali were arrested on August 7, for allegedly using a specialised master key to steal cars. Seven cars; Honda academy (NJ 338 AJ), Nissan sunny (LQ 546 AAA), Honda academy (AW 804 KMS), Honda accord (no plate), Honda civic (no plate), Totota Camry and Golf (no plate) were recovered from them.

The CP said they will be charged to court after investigation.

The police also said one Chimazie Emanini and Michael Nweke were arrested for stealing 14 vehicles while Promise Okafor, Ms. Amarachi Eneh and John Nuhu were their accomplices.”Emanini and Nweke were arrested on August 8 and the led the police to the hideout of Okafor and Nuhu where some of the vehicles including a Honda pilot jeep were recovered.” Okafor who claimed to be a lawyer used a number plate (FJ 56 HC) belonging to high court in one of the cars.

The vehicles are Infinity jeep (SN 695 KJA), Toyota hilux (SMK 680 AE), Toyota prado jeep (BQ 406 YAB), Honda CRV Jeep (AL 99 BNY), Toyota Camry (BP 433 BRC), Toyota corolla (MUS 598 AP) and three Toyota Camry models without number plates. Others are Honda academy (AE 324 RBC), Ford escape jeep (no plate), Nissan sunny (BM 792 FKJ) and Golf (FE 537 KRD). Three AK-47 guns and ammunition were recovered from them.

Emanini confessed to have taken part in stealing the vehicles.”We don’t have guns but we use master key to steal vehicles.”

The CP also paraded five suspects for allegedly stealing electric cables belonging to PHCN and one person with 200 bags of stolen cement.
