Government Withdraws Hospital's License For Removing Kidneys

The Bauchi State government has suspended the license of Aminchi Clinic, where two kidneys of 25-year old Abubakar Buba were allegedly removed. A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Isa Yuguda, Mr Ishola Michael Adeyemi, said the suspension followed recommendation by the medical board of inquiry set up by the government through the Ministry of Health to look into the matter. It was gathered that the board asked the state’s commissioner of health to suspend the clinic’s licence in compliance with the 1986 Health Edict No 20 Section 12,sub 1 b.  Adeyami added that the board also recommended the immediate referral of Dr.Sani Adamu, the clinic’s owner and his two nurses, Mijinyawa Abdulkadir Abdullahi and Yusuf Mohammed Zangina to their professional bodies for further investigation and appropriate disciplinary action. The board further charged the state’s commissioner of health to review and update the Hospital Registration and Regulating Authority Edict No 20 of 1986, beside activating and strengthening all health professional monitoring and inspection teams in the state.

The statement added that the board headed by Dr. Robinson Yusuf of the Bauchi State Specialist Hospital, observed during its investigation that Aminchi Clinic does not maintain a reasonable standard of professional ethical practice.

Meanwhile, Governor Isa Yuguda has donated $21,450 to Abubakar Buba to enable him access treatment abroad, but the Administrative Secretary of Miyetti Allah, Sadiq Ibrahim, said the patient is still at the ATBUTH undergoing analyses because the money donated to him by the government will not be enough to transport him to India. Sadiq appealed to philanthropists to assist the victim.
