Gunmen kill NSCDC Officer,Wipe out Wife, Daughter and Brother in Kano


Suspected gunmen on Sunday killed a National Security and Civil Defence Corps officer, his wife, daughter  and brother at Hotoro area of Kano metropolis.

Kano State Police Command confirmed the killing, saying  the incident happened around 12:30 pm.

Eyewitness also revealed under anonymity that the gunmen who were two in number stormed the deceased’s house on a motorcycle around 12:20 pm.

It was also gathered that the gunmen fled the area before the arrival of the JTF operatives  who cordoned off the area.

Sources also revealed that the gunmen after gaining entry into the house,  opened fire on the officer first before killing his wife, four year old daughter and brother.

When contacted, the command’s Public Relation Officer, ASP Magaji Majiya,  declined comment, but sources at the command confirmed the killing.

The source simply said ‘’The gunmen were on motorcycle and they escaped before the arrival of the JTF operatives’’..

However, the police command disclosed that the security had been beefed up in the area while investigation had also commenced.

Oba of Lagos Commends CBN Governor   over Banking Reforms

The Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwanu Babatunde Akiolu I, has extolled the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN),  Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, for his reforms in the banking sector.

The Royal father said,   “I will be always with him wherever he goes” because of his policy and focus.

Oba Rilwanu said  Sanusi’s efforts to make cashless economy is a reality.

According to him, “we are here to celebrate Sanusi’s recent acquired chieftaincy title of Danmajen Kano conferred on him by the Emir of Kano Alhaji Ado Bayero about three month ago, I also believed that Sanusi had a good policy and programme for the economy of the country to retains its strength in the world, so it’s necessary for us to emulates and commended him”.

“The banking reform system introduce by the CBN Governor Malam Sanusi Lamido had seriously yielded good result in the country’s economy, I am  appealing to the people to continue supporting the system for its economic importance in the country”, he explained.

He  also called  on  governors to emulate the Lagos state Governor, Babatunde  Fashola, in areas of infrastructural development.

He equally  urged that government to  create more jobs for  the teeming graduates, for a peaceful Nigeria to reign.

He urged the government to always be in constant touch with the respected traditional rulers the country.
To him, traditional rulers will always be  relevant when issues that had to do with peaceful society were concerned. “Let us be our brothers’-keepers.”, he advised.
