UEFA Champions League: Van Persie and Rooney To Lead United Attack

Sir Alex Ferguson looks set to partner Wayne Rooney with Robin van Persie, as Manchester United face CFR Cluj in Romania on Tuesday.

United will be looking to make it two wins from two games in the Champions League, after the 1-0 win over Galatasaray at Old Trafford.

Ferguson said: “Probably the strongest part of the team will be in the striker department. It (Van Persie’s arrival) should give everyone a push.”

But the match comes on the back of a 3-2 defeat at home to Tottenham, where the side was guilty of some suspect defending. Patrice Evra hopes the defeat was just an “accident” as they turn their attention to Europe.

“We have to be positive,” United defender Evra said. “I hope it was just an accident (against Tottenham) and we can get back the winning mentality in the Champions League.”
