Another Protest in Calabar Over Bakassi

The Cross River State governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, has stated that all hope is not lost in the fight for reclaiming the Bakassi Peninsula, saying that the state government will explore other means of addressing the injustice done to the returnees.
Imoke was speaking when some aggrieved indigenes of Bakassi Local Government Area marched on a peaceful protest to his office, carrying placards to register their grievance on the failure of the federal government to contest the International Court of Justice's, ruling which ceded the oil rich peninsular to Cameroon, despite a 10-year period of grace to contest the ruling.
Asking the crowd who earlier gathered at the Millennium Park in Calabar, the Cross River state capital, to pray and reflect on the last ten years, Imoke said that their peaceful protest was a right step in the right direction.
He maintained that, dialogue should remain the last resort to addressing this new development, urging the protesters to remain law abiding citizens and have hope in themselves.
Some of the aggrieved persons also expressed some optimism that the international community will stand by them and fight for their justice.
