Female U-17 World Cup: Nigerian Flamingoes Beat Columbia 3 - 0, Qualify for Quarter-finals

A brace by Halimatu Ayinde at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup has sent Nigeria to the quarter-finals of the tournament, beating Colombia 3-0.
The Nigerian girls had to wait until the 32nd minute to open the scoring, with Chinwendu Ihezuo feeding Ayinde to slot beneath the Colombian keeper.

After being limited to few chances despite dominating possession, the Flamingoes had the ball in the net, 15 minutes into the second period, but it was ruled out for a foul.

The Colombian Captain, Dayana Castillo almost drew level after breaking clear, but she was denied the chance and seconds later, they were two down.

Substitute Yetunde Adeboyejo combined well with Ayinde before the latter stroked the ball in off the bar.

Colombia’s hopes were dashed when Diana Duaret scored an own-goal for Nigeria with a miscued header.

The victory pitches the Flamingoes against the French team that emerged victorious from Group B.
