CJN to Swear-In New Supreme Court Justices Wednesday

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar, will on Wednesday administer the oath of office on the new appointed Justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, following their confirmation by the Senate.
The appointed justices are Justice Kumai B. Akaahs and Justice Stanley S. Alagoa, both Justices of the Court of Appeal before their nomination by President Goodluck Jonathan.

The CJN spokesman Festus Akande said in a statement yesterday in Abuja that the swearing in ceremony will take place Wednesday at the Main Court Auditorium of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

The two justices were recently appointed to the Supreme Court Bench by the President, following the retirement of the immediate past Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Dahiru Musdapher and Justice Francis Tabai, after serving as judges spanning over four decades respectively.

Akaahs was appointed to chair the 2011 Presidential Election Petition Tribunal after the suspension of the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami.
